The industry in a new reality. More opportunities or threats?
War in Ukraine. Rampant inflation. Rising prices for energy, materials and equipment. Broken or severely disrupted supply chains. Unstable exchange rates. The PIT reduction announced by the government, resulting in reduced revenues for local governments. And on the other hand: the need for accelerated investment in the energy sector and the realisation by decision makers of the importance of developing water and sewer infrastructure in the face of possible risks.
These elements make up the new environment in which the trenchless industry has to operate. Circumstances have presented hitherto unknown challenges, but have also outlined potential opportunities for growth. What can we do to avoid risks and take advantage of opportunities? How to operate effectively in the new reality? We will discuss these issues among industry experts.

We are at the beginning of a major paradigm shift in wastewater management, as climate change requires new concepts and adaptation strategies. It will increasingly be a question of preventing urban flooding and strengthening natural water cycles. New structures such as underground water reservoirs and sustainable drainage systems must be created and maintained. The trenchless technology industry must think quickly and intensively about how it can take advantage of the new opportunities that will open up.
Adam Wysokowski
The idea of creating a group of new building regulations stemmed from the need to update the existing technical solutions used in the communication infrastructure in our country. The dynamic change in the level of knowledge and currently available technical solutions in the field of engineering facilities makes it necessary to adapt them to the constantly growing requirements. This concerns both widely understood comfort, while ensuring the safety of users, and ecology. The development of new substantive documents, which would correspond to the current technical reality, also allows for the optimisation of financial expenses incurred for the maintenance of building infrastructure. The need to issue new legal documents was also due to the impending expiry of the technical and construction regulations previously in force in our country.
The requirements contained in national regulations should be consistent with European requirements, monitored and amended on an ongoing basis. Therefore, still this year we are facing a thorough change related to the regulations concerning the construction sector, which are the delegations to the Construction Law. One of these changes, which we all already feel, are the developed and implemented documents in the form of Templates and Standards recommended and implemented on an ongoing basis by the Minister of Infrastructure
Dariusz Zwierzchowski
In order to determine the current technical condition of engineering structures, in addition to personal inspection and damage inventory, specialist tests must also be carried out. Some of them (such as non-destructive tests) can be performed directly on the facility. Whereas some of them must be performed under laboratory conditions, on samples taken from the structure of the building.
Mateusz Saładziak
The speaker in his talk will present the history of Gamm-Bud based on the most interesting and significant events related to the development of trenchless technologies.
Michał Siejda
After two years of the Covid-19 pandemic, contractors hoped for a stabilisation in construction material prices. Russia's military attack on Ukraine have destroyed these hopes and contractors are now faced with an unprecedented rise in the price of construction materials, an outflow of blue-collar workers and wage pressure from workers trying to protect their salaries from rampant inflation. The public is slowly recognising the need to make construction wages more realistic, but contractors think this is happening too slowly

Line construction projects with trenchless methods can be very thrilling. One cannot see into the ground and therefore one is never save of surprises. Even with comprehensive engineering, soil investigation, preparation of work and manhole-chosen technical equipment and staff, there can occur unforeseen challenges. Can the drill head be controlled properly? Does the borehole stays stable? Can the pipe be pulled in without getting stuck? In this small-scale HDD project, the project team faced many large-scale issues and obstacles.
Marcin Firkowski
Jakub Hilarowicz
The presentation will include a feasibility analysis of trenchless crossings performed as part of the construction of the DN1000 high-pressure gas pipeline between Goleniów and Ciecierzyce. The construction of the pipeline is directly related to the implementation of the Baltic Pipe project in its land part in the territory of Poland. The four crossings were carried out using the Direct Pipe technology. They were the longest drillings in this technology on the territory of Poland.

Trenchless Renovation session
With the passage of time, problems arise in the operation of trunk pipelines made of steel and grey cast iron. These problems are mainly due to corrosion and encrustation. Operating companies are then faced with the choice of building new pipelines or renovating existing ones. On-site curing of pipe liners by means of UV light has become increasingly popular in recent years. However, there are more parameters to consider than just using a UV source. The lecture will show what happens "behind the scenes" in the thermoset resin system during UV-initiated polymerization of CIPP. During the presentation, the process of trenchless renovation of Poland's largest gravity collector (measuring over 3 metres) discharging sewage from the left bank part of Warsaw using cGRP modules will be shown in a very vivid and illustrative way. Details of the execution technology, the materials used and the challenges and difficulties that the contractor overcame during the implementation of the task in 2018-2021 will be presented in detail. A film of the implementation and an animation showing the advantages of the materials used will enrich the story of this special project, whose investor was Miejskie Przedsiębiorstwo Wodociągów i Kanalizacji w m. st. Warszawie S.A. (Municipal Water Supply and Sewage Company in the Capital City of Warsaw). It is really worth seeing. PREDL-FLEXLINER allows you to carry out the environmentally friendly, trenchless renovation of manholes, sewage chambers and pumping stations in a very short time. Thanks to the FLEXLINER renovation method and state-of-the-art 3D laser scanning used for the renovation work, optimum preparation of the work and a significant reduction in on-site renovation costs are possible, as manhole as the permanent restoration of the entire manhole structure. The speakers will comprehensively present issues related to resins used in CIPP technology. They will present the criteria for their division and the properties of polyester and epoxy resins in relation to applications in the technology discussed. They will also discuss the resin development trends observed on the market. The speakers will comprehensively discuss issues related to the design of sleeves for the renovation of pressure pipelines. They will look at the input data on the basis of which decisions on the need for renovation are made and tell what decisions are made due to lack of data. They will also discuss the issue of the pressures for which sleeves are designed and explain why these pressures are often too high. They will present the calculation possibilities for determining wall thickness and present a multi-faceted case study. The presentation will provide a comprehensive answer to the question of what steps the customer can take to improve the selection of sleeves. Florian Piechurski
In this presentation, the assessment of the renovation costs will be presented on the example of three investments carried out in pipelines with different diameters. Renovation No. 1 concerns Ø500 and Ø800 pipelines, Renovation No. 2 concerns Ø200 to Ø400 pipelines, and Renovation No. 3 concerns Ø300 and Ø450 pipelines. In the course of their implementation, technologies of renovation by applying cement and the use of Seartex-Liner H2O and Phoenix Double Jacket sleeves have been used. The cost of renovation of 1 running meter of the DN800 and DN500 grey cast iron pipeline with the use of a CIPP UV sleeve (Seartex-Liner H2O) was PLN 1760 and PLN 1100. The cost of renovation of 1 running meter of the DN500 steel pipeline with the use of the Phoenix Double Jacket process was PLN 975. The cost of renovation of 1 running meter of the DN600 steel pipeline with the use of the cement lining process amounted to PLN 412.96. Comparable costs of the investment can be therefore incurred with the use of CIPP UV (Seartex-Liner H2o) and Process Phoenix Double Jacket methods. It should be noted that the hydraulic properties of the renovated pipelines have been improved. Mark Kopietz

Manhole renovation with CIPP UV method - part 1
ProKASRO has responded to the increasing demand in the field of shaft rehabilitation in 2019 and designed the 4 x 1000W UV light source core with camera and 2 temperature sensors. A separate control unit in a small flightcase with logging, temperature and pressure measurement as manhole as a single packer DN500 with straps for the crane suspension for easy insertion into the shaft are included in the mobile UV system. With this system, manholes can be restored to an excellent condition. If there are heavily damaged manholes with fractures, cracks and other types of damage, rehabilitation using UV technology is the more cost-effective and environmentally friendly alternative to excavation and complete manhole renewal.
For our demonstration we will rehabilitate a manhole with a diameter of 600mm at the top which expands to a cylinder with a diameter of DN970 and a total depth of the shaft of 350cm.
MRT system - a mobile automated manhole renovation - part 1
Preparing the substrate with a high pressure washer - 350 bar with rotating nozzles One of the important technological steps with which the repair of manhole structures using construction chemicals begins is the proper preparation of the mineral substrate. The use of appropriate techniques and machines for this purpose makes it possible to achieve long-term success in the renovation of sewage structures, sewage treatment plants and drinking water tanks.
One of the devices in MRT (Manhole Rehabilitation Technology) dedicated to these works is the MRT-Blasting Unit - a cleaning head for optimal preparation of concrete/brick structures. Thanks to the use of this device the renovation works are faster and more effective and their effects are of the highest quality. During the demonstration you will be able to assess by yourself the benefits of using the MRT-Blasting Unit.
Demonstration of IBAK's MicroGator milling robot
ELSE Technical and Reserarch Service Co. Ltd sp. z o.o., an official representative of IBAK, will present the Microgator milling robot. Observers will be able to get an up-close look at how the robot works and how successfully it copes with daily challenges in operational work.
Manhole renovation with the DURA.PORT system
MRT system - a mobile automated manhole renovation - part 2
Spraying an innovative XWW4 grade mineral material with the MRT system's centrifugal head to ensure uniform placement and compaction of the protective coating. Preparation of the substrate and infiltration sealing is followed by repairing and then applying the protective coating to the sewer manhole. The use of Ombran MHP-SP 3000 material and the MRT-Spinning Unit (spreading head) makes it possible to carry out this work in a single process step. Ombran MHP-SP 3000 material is of class R4 according to EN 1504-3 and is used for structural repairs and of class XWW4 according to DIN 19573 as a highly chemical resistant mineral coating for the protection of sewage structures. The application time of the MRT-Spinning Unit is reduced to a minimum, and the coating is even, compact and tight, thus eliminating the aggressive effect of the sanitary sewer environment.
