A new generation of the UV curing systems for renovation liners

UV curing systems for CIPP are being expanded in two directions. On one side, we deal with systematically larger diameters and even more sophisticated light chains with immense power, on the other side – we have systems designed for smaller diameters (usually based on the LED lights). During the presentations, the author will discuss the pros and cons of nowadays solutions. He will also exhibit the possible paths for technology development.

InsituMain® liner for the renovation of water conduits and other gravity pipelines

InsituMain® liner is intended for the renovation of the existing water conduit or pumping gutter system with diameters ranging from 200 to 1500 mm. It can function as an interactive liner or as an independent self-supported solution that addresses the needs concerning the renovation of a specific gravity conduit. A design and a way of producing the liner is adjusted accordingly to the renovation task. Trenchless method of installation of a liner has a great impact on reducing social and environmental costs. During the presentation, the speaker will discuss the issues concerning liner’s structure, the process of production and installation – illustrating the speech with the examples of national and foreign implementations.

CIPP UV special applications

Glass fibre liners cured with UV became very popular during the last ten years. They are successfully used for conducting a fast, effective and durable renovation of the sewers. For the last two years, both UV curing technique and the liners themselves have been perfected. The innovations that were introduced to the market significantly broadened the possibilities of applying the liners in the cases of the large diameter canals and non-standard profiles – until now such renovations were challenging and hazardous.

Pressure pipelines renovation system built in shipping containers

Currently, the transport of shipping containers to any place on the Earth does not cause any problem, also the time of transportation gets shorter. That is why we can say that are no borders for pipeline renovation. To meet market demands, KrasoTech GmbH released the newest system solution enabling building in the shipping containers full production line for impregnation, installation and curing the liners up to diameter DN1500. This solution lets the contractors break free from dependency on the necessity of having the transporting vehicles, especially if the construction sites are very distant. Containers can be shipped to the most remote places, even with aircraft (e.g. helicopters).

Marcin Łukaszewicz

Experiences of an investor concerning executing projects using the CIPP technology

Kraków Waterworks for many years have been using a wide range of trenchless renovation methods. They have a great experience concerning CIPP renovation. In numerous executed projects they used many different liners – produced out of different materials, cured in many different ways. They were implemented in both water and sewage systems. They renovated the circular conduits (water pipelines) and non-circular (sewerage). The most difficult technically, and at the same time the most interesting renovation included three pipelines DN1500, 300 meters long, placed under the Vistula River riverbed. Basing on those experiences and selected case studies, the speaker will present good practices concerning the relationship between the investor and the contractors, as well as with the CIPP materials suppliers. He will also share his thoughts on the quality of the works, executed in the aforementioned way.

Sylwester Szostak

Selection of technology for conducting renovation works in extreme conditions – experiences from implementation

The cities and the urban infrastructure are growing very fast nowadays. We build more – and faster. Unfortunately, there still are some unresolved issues from the past, e.g. ownership of urban lands where the water and sewage pipelines are placed. Selection of technology has a huge impact on the selection of a water pipeline restoration method. While choosing the method it is important to assess the technical condition of a conduit first and then its localization. The adequate technology will make the renovation process easier and also allow the pipeline to be functional for the next decades. During the presentation, two installations in two different cities will be discussed. Both projects were conducted to solve the problem of the old conduit technical condition.

Magdalena Januszek: University or Agriculture in Kraków, Environmental Engineering and Geodesy graduate. He has been with the RTi company since 2018, where he was assigned the Waterworks Contract Delivery Manager.

Arkadiusz Szot

Simplicity or detailedness? Global theories and solutions concerning the issue of measuring liners for underground pipelines – a review

After getting to know many global theories concerning bearing capacity and stability of the liners, it is valuable to notice a large mismatch of their scale and detailedness. The reasons behind those discrepancies might be the differences in the safety philosophy, characteristic for the different parts of the world (the Anglo-Saxon or German part), that will be presented during the speech.

Dr inż. Arkadiusz Szot, Wrocław University of Science and Technology

Roland W. Waniek

Sewer pipe and manhole rehabiliation – what about the Quality?

Every day in Europe, many kilometres of sewer systems are rehabilitated. But what quality does one get for his money? Based on thorough testing of thousands of CIPP samples, the annual IKT-LinerReport shows how good the actual is. Over 15 years, clear trends in tightness, stability and wall thickness can be seen. But what is important in the future?

Bogusław Wójtowicz

CIPP resins and long-term tests

In his presentation, the author will discuss the resins used for impregnating renovation liners and the CIPP liners long-term tests.
While selecting the resins for CIPP renovation, we should take into the account the characteristics concerning their susceptibility to osmosis – and in consequence, to the corrosion. The short-term mechanical properties are also important, as they are the basis of calculations of the strength and easy to check during the investment process.
For the decades the long-term tests have been indicating that all of the resins in the liners are excellent hence those tests are not a suitable criterium, because the will indicate so even in the case of inadequate resins that after 50 years will be completely corroded and destroyed.

Bogusław Wójtowicz, POliner sp. z o.o. (sp.k.).

President Poliner sp. z o.o., Warsaw University of Technology graduate. He holds an unrestricted construction license. For 25 years he has been specializing in the area of the trenchless renovation of sewers, as well as waterworks cleansing.

Dariusz Zwierzchowski

The effect of the quality of the CIPP liners samples on the test results concerning their durability parameters

To check the quality of renovation works and to accept them, it is indispensable to conduct the lab tests of geometrical and durability tests of the collected cured CIPP samples. In order to receive reliable results, it is essential to collect the samples that are characterised by the fixed thickness, smoothness and lack of ovalization of the cross-section. Only such samples, according to the guidelines, may be tested.
During the presentation, the speaker will discuss the effect of the quality of the CIPP liners samples on the test results concerning their durability parameters.
