Model-Based Predictive Control—Protecting the City and Reducing Total Pollutant Loads Entering Water Bodies
The regional wastewater treatment company in Gothenburg and the city of Gothenburg’s water utility have implemented a predictive control system using a model that, during heavy rainfall, optimizes stormwater overflows, retention use, and inflow to the wastewater treatment plant during heavy rainfall, in order to reduce the total annual pollutant loads entering the aquatic environment.
Ph.D. in Urban Hydrology with over 40 years of experience in the field of urban drainage systems. He specializes in the analysis and modeling of complex water systems and in developing innovative solutions for urban infrastructure. He has led and co-developed numerous research and development (R&D) projects related to the aquatic environment. He has extensive consulting experience gained in more than 15 countries around the world. He currently serves as Principal Engineer – Urban Water at DHI and is the lead business architect for the DHI CityFlow Live solution.
