Rainwater and meltwater in the amendment to the Waste Water Directive

The amendment to the Waste Water Directive 2024/3019 focuses primarily on reducing pollution discharged into water bodies via waste water. It also addresses issues relating to urban drainage. The presentation will discuss the Directive’s provisions on rainwater and storm water overflows. It will also outline the challenges associated with transposing the new requirements into national legislation.

A graduate of the Faculty of Environmental Engineering at the Kraków University of Technology, the Faculty of Management at the University of Economics in Kraków, and the MBA in Public Management programme at the Kraków Business School of the University of Economics in Kraków. He has been working at Kraków Water for 20 years, where he is responsible for managing technological processes at sewage treatment works and water treatment plants, as well as research and development and legal and environmental issues within the water supply and sewerage sector. He currently holds the position of Director of Technology and Innovation at the company.
As a representative of the “Wodociągi Polskie” Chamber of Commerce within the European Federation of National Associations of Water Services (EurEau), he takes part in consultations on European and national legislation and policies relating to the water and wastewater sector, and heads the Chamber’s team of wastewater experts. For the past eight years, he has been the chairman of the Galician Waterworks Forum Association. He is also a wastewater expert at the “Wodociągi Polskie” Chamber of Commerce.
