Culture for Water – Stormwater Retention in Green Roof Systems

In the face of advancing urbanization and climate change, rainwater retention and reuse are becoming key challenges for cities. The presentation “Culture for Water – Rainwater Retention in Green Roof Systems” demonstrates how modern architectural and engineering solutions can support sustainable water management. The presentation will discuss the functions of retention roofs, their role in mitigating the effects of the “concrete jungle,” improving the microclimate, and increasing biodiversity in urban spaces. It will emphasize the importance of synergy between architecture, nature, and society in creating cities resilient to climate change. Finally, and most importantly, specific case studies will be presented in which real estate and industrial development projects were successfully implemented under conditions of severely restricted maximum stormwater runoff, thanks to the new “Culture for Water” philosophy.
