How to combine flood control measures with the preservation of a river’s ecological values

He is a graduate of the Szczecin University of Technology (Hydraulic Engineering) and the West Pomeranian University of Technology in Szczecin (Land Reclamation). He has worked in water resources management and on projects in the land reclamation and water management sectors, as well as in securing external funding for projects related to flood protection and environmental protection (including serving as technical manager on two Life+ projects, which involved, among other things, the construction of fish passes). Since 2018, he has been a co-founder of Komes Water Sp. z o.o., a company providing consulting and design services in the hydrotechnical sector, with a particular focus on the protection of aquatic environments and the restoration of aquatic ecosystems. Member of the State Water Management Council. Deputy Director of the Institute of Meteorology and Water Management – National Research Institute (IMGW-PIB) for Hydrological and Meteorological Services (PSHM).
For years, he has specialized in initiatives aimed at protecting the aquatic environment, working in both the public and private sectors. The work of the teams he manages is focused primarily on the protection of water resources and natural retention. He is the author of projects related to renaturation and the improvement of water quality, as well as hundreds of water law reports and other studies in the field of water management. He has taught courses at the West Pomeranian University of Technology (ZUT) in Szczecin as part of a postgraduate program in land reclamation, and has also conducted numerous training sessions on the practical application of the Water Law Act. Co-founder of the “Experts for the Oder” group, a volunteer organization dedicated to protecting and supporting the restoration and future protection of the Oder River following an environmental disaster.
