Since 1 October 1980, he has worked as an academic teacher at the Silesian University of Technology, Faculty of Environmental Engineering and Power Engineering as an assistant, assistant professor and currently as an associate professor. He is authorised to design and direct construction works in the field of installation of heating, ventilation, gas, water supply and sewage networks, without limitations. As an organiser and scientific secretary, he has been active in: 11 scientific and technical symposia ‘New technologies in water and sewage networks and installations’ (in 1994, 1996, 2000, 2002, 2004, 2006, 2008, 2010, 2012) at the Silesian University of Technology, 10 scientific and technical symposia (in 1997, 1999, 2001, 2003, 2005, 2007, 2009, 2011) ‘Basin installations’ at the Silesian University of Technology. He is the author and co-author of 400 scientific and technical publications, promoter of 120 master’s theses and 160 engineering theses. He has collaborated on 64 pool installation projects in the field of pool water and ventilation systems, 124 water and sewage system projects and 68 water and sewage network projects.
He has been a content supervisor for conferences: ‘Water losses in water supply systems’ (2009-2015), ‘Design and construction of water supply and sewerage networks and connections’ (2011), ‘Trenchless technologies for renovation and construction of water supply and sewerage networks’ (2012), a member of the programme board of the 9th scientific and technical conference ‘Monitoring Automation Exploitation in Environmental Engineering’ and a member of the scientific and programme board in the 15th Symposium ‘HYDROPREZENTATIONS’.
Privately, he is the husband of Alina, father of Paulina and Margaret, grandfather of Amelka, Olaf and Bartosz. He enjoys swimming – mainly in open water, warm seas, he is a WOPR lifeguard and a motorboat helmsman. He is also a basketball instructor and was an assistant coach of the second-league women’s basketball team AZS Gliwice. He enjoys travelling and learning about the history of different countries.
