Numerical modelling of tunnelling process in which a mechanised TBM shield is used
The increasing growth of urban underground infrastructure requires implementing the even more precise calculation models that are to be used for the impact of tunnelling on the surroundings prediction. During the presentation, there will be discussed a 3D numerical model MES that is used for the analysis of the impact of the TBM tunnelling process on the soil deformation and internal forces in tunnel’s casing. Creating numerical model and reading the data was fully automatised thank to the original Python script. Qualitative and quantitative verification of the model was conducted on a basis of an example of a tunnel tunnelled by an EPB shield, as a part of blue metro line MRTA in Bangkok. The prepared model was used for observing the complex mechanisms between the EPB shield, tunnel’s casing and soil centre. Additionally, the impact of technological parameters was defined quantitatively
