Papers and the main issues in short:
Failure frequency studies as the basis for preliminary assessment of technical state of water supply networks - prof. dr hab. inż. Marian Kwietniewski, Warsaw University of Technology
Failure frequency studies will be presented as an essential part of operational examination of reliability of network infrastructure facilities. Unit intensity of defects (defects/km year, or defects/10 km year) will be the main indicator used for failure frequency evaluation, and thus for one-parameter reliability assessment. Aside from that index values, specified for various water supply networks, the researchers will demonstrate cause and effect analysis for defects on the example of water supply network delivering water to a city inhabited by ca. 50,000 people.
Multi-line tunnels - history or the future? – prof. dr hab. inż. Cezary Madryas, Wrocław University of Technology
The surprisingly dynamic development of urban areas due to the continued growth in urban population, resulting from migration from rural areas to the heavily urbanised ones, results in the increasing urban land prices and the need to seek technical solutions to optimize the use of urban space. A part of this space is the underground, which in this situation becomes more valuable and in higher demand. Therefore, any technical solution aimed at maximising the integration of the underground infrastructure, even if they were known for years, such as multi-line tunnels, are given new meaning. This presentation will demonstrate the historical solutions of multi-line tunnel construction used in the past. In addition, it will discuss the new methods of constructing such structure in the context of the latest technologies, contemporary technical requirements and the current demand for underground spaces in urban areas.
The effectiveness of the application trenchless technology in the transport infrastructure development - dr hab. inż. Adam Wysokowski, prof. UZ, The University of Zielona Góra
The present paper will concern issues associated with technical and economic effectiveness of using trenchless technologies in constructing roads and railway infrastructure. In case of trenchless methods people focus most frequently on issues associated with technical development of these technologies and scientific basis of their development. Significantly less attention is paid to broadly defined economic aspects. This is also of great importance when constructing and modernizing motor roads and railway lines. Therefore the author of this paper will undertake to analyse these issues. He will do it by taking into consideration social costs, which, despite their importance, are often omitted.
Assessment of technical status and studies of diffcult-available transport infrastructure underground objects - dr inż. Tomasz Abel, Wrocław University of Technology
Presentation will touch CCTV inspections and rating of the technical state of sewers. Most often damages will be described and classified. Review of the factors of damages which have the biggest influence on technical state of the pipes will be complemented in the second part of the presentation. Presentaion will show methods of the tests which are possible to realize on the site and in the laboratory.
Large sewers: construction, operation and maintenance - experience from research and testing - PD Dr.-Ing. Bert Bosseler, IKT - Institute for Underground Infrastructure
IKT has been investigating various methods and products for construction, operation and maintenance of large sewers with a special focus on the requirements of utilities and network owners. Recent topics e.g. dealt with the quality of large steel reinforced pipes, the risks and advantages of pipe jacking method, as well as specialised techniques for the structural assessment of large buried structures. The presentation gives an overview about the research background, key results and consequences for practice.
The problem of technical rehabilitation of sewer connections – dr inż. Andrzej Kolonko, Wrocław University of Technology
While the sewage pipelines and, to a smaller degree, the inspection chambers, are gradually being renovated in Poland, the problem of connection tightness is still marginalised. The scale of the problem is huge and hardly anyone seems to realise it. The European Union will certainly not forget about our duties and, if the transition period is not extended, Poland will pay huge penalties, thus drastically increasing the price of water.
A comparative analysis of water supply network construction using trenchless technologies – dr. inż. Florian Piechurski i Damian Jurecki, Silesian University of Technology
This presentation will include an attempt at determining the optimal technological method based on an analysis of variant solutions for the construction and renovation of water supply networks using trenchless methods. In addition, it will discuss a selection of technology based on a comparison of costs for a given investment. The analysis included the completion of a water supply network and switching of the existing water supply connections. All calculations and cost estimate needed for its completion were created using "NORMA" software.
Diagnosis problems of large-size sewage pipes – dr inż. Bogdan Przybyła, Wrocław University of Technology
Sewers of big diameters fulfil special function in sewage system, because they usually intercept sewage from rest of the network and exemplify last link which connect the network with wastewater treatment plant. Any failure has in this case obvious and particularly large implications. Due to permanent leading in these pipes the large amount of waste water, possibilities for their routine control with the use of standard equipment for video inspection usually doesn’t occur, while enter of employee and making of direct inspection is subject of very prohibitions. There are also parts of sewers, which are practically not available for personnel, due to high sewage level and present risk of poisoning over harmful gases. The presentation will show issue of efficient sewers control by employees working inside them, and independently, potential solutions for remote diagnostics - without assuming of people working inside the sewer of big diameter.
Risk analysis in current construction standards - dr. inż. Arkadiusz Szot, Wrocław University of Technology
The article shows some aspects of risk analysis included in current standards. The paper refers to the situation of underground infrastructure branch. Possibilities of introducing algorithms from Polish standards in process of design and construction underground infrastructure is described in the paper.
Ground water infiltration in brick interceptors - dr inż. Dariusz Zwierzchowski, Higher Engineering School of Work Safety and Organization in Radom
The issue of ground water infiltration in interceptors is one of the biggest problems that network operating companies have to face. While infiltration in pipelines made of prefabricates pipes most often occurs due to untight connections, the leaks in brick interceptors appear in the joints. Therefore, the phenomenon of infiltration in brick collectors is often not local, but can affect vast areas of the whole structure, posing a threat to its load capacity.
Influence of select factors over the load capacity of renovated pipes - Beata Nienartowicz, Wrocław University of Technology
Analysis of the results of laboratory research conducted on Wroclaw University of Technology will be presented. The aim of research was to determine the influence of select factors over the functioning of pipes renovated by relining. Select problems, such as the influence of quality of the grout or the influence of the cooperation between the grout and the liner will be talked over.

20 years of Gamm-Bud company at the trenchless technologies market – Michał Andrzejewski, Gamm-Bud
sp. z o.o.
Twenty years ago, in May 1992, Gamm-Bud sp. z o.o. [Ltd.] was established as a continuation of GAMM civil partnership operating since 1984. From the beginning the Company was engaged in supplying equipment for cable laying and sewage system repairs. At that time, the term "trenchless technologies" was not universally used yet. Gamm-Bud was one of the first companies to supply Polish contractors with fibre optic cable blowers and cable winch pullers. For some time the Company was assembling winch pullers for Bagela Baumaschinen. In practice, it has always been an innovative company, introducing in Polish market the latest technological developments in the field of trenchless technologies. It participated in implementing so unique technologies as Omega Liner (the first in Poland Pipe Sauna was built by Gamm-Bud) and ultraviolet-hardened sleeves (the first set imported to Poland by Gamm-Bud). For years now the Company has been actively promoting spot- and sleeve repair technologies. It supplies equipment and materials, and conducts training courses. It manufactures own air-tightness measuring equipment, fumigation machines and parameter recorders. The Company develops its own, specialised software and distributes applications from world leaders (WinCan from CDLab). In recent years Gamm-Bud has completed its offer with repair systems for sewage chambers and high-pressure machines used to clean sewage systems. Moreover, it manufactures own cameras for sewage system inspection, and recording sets. Gamm-Bud provides services for approximately one thousand clients in Poland and abroad.
